Former first lady Barbara Bush is in failing health, and will not seek additional medical care after a series of recent hospitalizations for Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease and congestive heart failure.
A family spokesman said yesterday that Barbara (who is 92 years old) will “instead focus on comfort care”, which means resting at home, no more hospitals.
A statement from the office of George H.W. Bush said: “It will not surprise those who know her that Barbara Bush has been a rock in the face of her failing health, worrying not for herself — thanks to her abiding faith — but for others. She is surrounded by a family she adores, and appreciates the many kind messages and especially the prayers she is receiving.”
Something awful in relation to this: CBS News erroneously published an online obituary yesterday afternoon for Mrs. Bush.
The story’s headline read “DO NOT PUBLISH – Former first lady Barbara Bush d*es at age 92 DO NOT PUBLISH.” It was briefly published on cbsnews.com, then taken down.
